
Berys Gaut is Reader in Philosophy at St. Andrews. He holds a B.A. from Oxford University and a M.A. and a PhD from Princeton University.
His research interests include: aesthetics, especially its relation to ethics; the philosophy of creativity; philosophy of film and film theory; moral theory; and Kant's moral philosophy.
He is co-editor of the Blackwell series, New Directions in Aesthetics and is Chairman of the Management Committee of The Philosophical Quarterly.
His monograph, Art, Emotion and Ethics, was published by Oxford University Press in 2007. He is currently completing another monograph, entitled A Philosophy of Cinematic Art, to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2009.
